LSSO group email, Law Connect, and Advertising
LSSO Group Email (public facing)
Each LSSO President has access to an external public facing listserv that serves as their public facing email alias.
- President(s) will be the only board members to manage receiving emails for their orgs. So when an message is sent to your LSSO email (the external public listserv), it will be forwarded to your personal email. NOTE: Since this is a listserv (and not a true email) you can only receive emails for your LSSO but not send emails as a listserv does not operate like an email with an Inbox folder.
- President(s) are responsible for filtering out messages, such as spam. If you receive spam, you can simply ignore or delete it.
- If Presidents(s) receive an email in which they want to share with LSSO membership, please copy and paste information and email to your current members using Law Connect platform.
- If Presidents(s) want to respond to an email received, they can respond from their personal UChicago email.
- Do not add subscribers/members to your external listserv. They would receive spam emails from outside organizations, or perhaps information that was intended for the President(s) or E-board only.
- LSSOs can find their public facing email here (middle column): https://uchicago.box.com/s/6dla5kcqjck0q3h3r32l5vj7y1d87bp3

Law_Events Listserv
In addition to using Law Connect to advertise your event, LSSOs can also advertise their event on the Law School's event listserv. All students are automatically added to the email list and can opt-out at any time through the lists@uchicago.edu site.
Who can use Law_Events?
Each LSSO designates one person from their board who will have sending privileges to the listserv. No other individuals will be able to send emails through the listserv.
How do I use Law_Events?
Designees send event advertisement emails to law_events@lists.uchicago.edu.
Guidelines:
-
LSSOs should begin the subject of their email with their organization abbreviation.
-
Example: [LSSO Name(s)] Presents: Title of event with [speaker name]. For consistency and clarity, please use this format to advertise your events.
-
-
Digital attachments are allowed, but text of your event details should always be included in the body of your email (not only just a PDF attachment or image) to ensure that the message is accessible to individuals using assistive technology.
-
Your event (and speaker, if applicable) must be approved in Law Connect prior to advertising on this listserv. As a reminder, all judges, alum, and high profile/gov officials must have prior approval.
-
LSSOs may only advertise their events up to two times through the listserv.
-
Organizations may only send emails related to your LSSO event that your org is leading/organizing.
-
Emails for purposes other than your events (e.g. selling or lost items, commentary on events, news stories, jokes, etc.) will not be permitted.
-
Student orgs found in violation of the rules may face sanctions, including loss of listserv privileges, for a period of time.
