Join the University of Chicago Law School’s Office of International Programs, International Law Society, and the Human Rights Law Society for a lunch talk by Shuhrat Saidov, a human rights defender and art activist from Tajikistan, as he shares his experiences navigating his country’s unique civic and political landscape. Saidov will discuss the obstacles faced by activists in Tajikistan and highlight how he has effectively used legal training, U.N. advocacy, and innovative art activism to promote justice and protect fundamental freedoms across Central Asia.

Shuhrat Saidov is a human rights defender, photographer, and curator with a background in law. Working in the fields of Public Health and Human Rights, Shuhrat engages in the advocacy and promotion of human rights across Tajikistan.
