CELS 2023 Keynote: Jens Ludwig

We are pleased to announce our Keynote Speaker for CELS 2023: Jens Ludwig!

Jens is the Edwin A. and Betty L. Bergman Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago, co-director of the National Bureau of Economic Research’s working group on the economics of crime, and Pritzker director of the University of Chicago Crime Lab, which he helped found 10 years ago to work closely with local government to reduce both crime and the harms of the justice system. Crime Lab projects have contributed to changes in pre-trial practices in New Jersey and New York City, social and education policies in Chicago, and supported the consent decree between the Illinois Attorney General and Chicago Police Department. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine of the National Academies of Science. For more information, please visit Jen’s website.
