I am very grateful for this scholarship. I will be the first lawyer and the first graduate school alumna in my family, and financial considerations were a major factor when I considered law schools. This scholarship has made it possible for me to attend this fantastic law school.

While studying chemical engineering at the University of Michigan, I began looking for a career that would combine my love for technology with my desire to work in a collaborative, dynamic, and competitive environment. Patent law seemed like a great fit, and through my intellectual property coursework at the Law School, I am convinced that I made a great decision. The career opportunities, facilitated through the Office of Career Services, have been fantastic, and I got to work as a summer associate at a Washington, D.C., patent law firm this summer. I especially appreciate how the Law School has taught me to look at intellectual property from an economics-based entrepreneurial viewpoint. Programs like the Corporate Lab and the New Venture Challenge (through Chicago Booth) have been indelible in my personal and professional development at the Law School. My experiences at the Law School are laying the foundation for my legal career, and I am very excited about what the future holds.
