Kristen Trum, ’12, recipient of Law School Alumni Scholarship Fund on her scholarship
I graduated in June, and the scholarship I received allowed me to have many great experiences at the Law School. I had the opportunity to take classes with excellent professors like Professors David Strauss, Brian Leiter, and Randal Picker. I improved skills integral to practicing law by being on the board of the Chicago Journal of International Law. I interacted with many other students and outside speakers through student groups such as the Law Women’s Caucus. I also tried to give back to the community, while learning practical skills, through participation in clinics. I worked in the Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship and also in the Gendered Violence Clinic, where I worked at Legal Assistance Foundation. Because of these opportunities, I felt prepared to begin my career as a litigator at a large law firm in Washington, D.C., and I know my past experiences will open many doors in the future.
The generosity of donors to the Law School has been a great source of opportunity and inspiration for me. I hope to be able to give back in return as an alumna as well.
