Family Weekend kicked off with a welcome in the auditorium from Christopher Stoj, ’23—an LSA representative who led the LSA committee that helped plan Family Weekend.

Then, Professor Emily Buss welcomed families and offered remarks—including a discussion of family law and how the field has changed in the last few years.

Dean Thomas J. Miles delivered a keynote address to students and their families.

For many family members of students, this was their first time seeing the Law School in person.

The weekend’s activities included tours of the Law School building and University of Chicago campus.

The Chicago Law Foundation held a swag sale for families eager to bring some Law School gear back home.

The first day of Family Weekend concluded with a reception in the Green Lounge, where students and their families had the chance to mingle with faculty and administrators.

On October 22 and 23, 2021, the Law Students Association and the Law School held the first annual Family Weekend. Admitted Students Week was held virtually in 2020 and 2021, and many parents and families had not had the opportunity to visit the Law School in person. The weekend was an opportunity for students' families to get to know the campus and learn more about the Law School community.

Weekend programming included remarks by Dean Thomas J. Miles, a reception at the Law School where family members were able to mingle with students and faculty, and activities to help families experience the University of Chicago campus, the Hyde Park neighborhood, and the City of Chicago.
