Panel: The Intersection of Disability Law and Reproductive Rights
Reproductive rights and disabled rights intersect, more than you might think, and disabled women's rights are often violated through reproductive restrictions. This is caused by a lack of understanding that women with disabilities require the same range of and access to reproductive services, and even subtle eugenicism. What is the law doing to counteract these problems? What can be done? And is anyone doing it?
Join Law Students for Reproductive Justice and the Disability Law Society for a discussion with Mark Heyrman, Clinical Professor of Law for the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic's Mental Health Project, and Fulani Thrasher, Women and Girls Community Organizer for Access Living Metropolitan Chicago.
Presented on January 20, 2016, by the Disability Law Society and Law Students for Reproductive Justice, and sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students as part of Diversity Month.
