Teach for America Partnership
The University of Chicago Law School and Teach For America seek highly talented, diverse individuals to lead the efforts confronting some of our country's most pressing social issues. We have partnered to offer the following benefits for qualified individuals who wish to join Teach For America and then attend the University of Chicago Law School:
- The Law School will offer a two-year deferment to applicants who are accepted to Teach For America.
- The Law School will waive application fees for all current corps members as well as alumni of Teach For America who will complete or have completed two years teaching (service completed within the last five years).
- The University of Chicago Law School - Teach For America Fellowship has been established to set aside specific scholarship dollars for Teach For America Corps members and alumni. The Law School will provide $30,000 in scholarship funds to up to five newly admitted Teach For America alumni a year.
- One $35,000 scholarship per year will be awarded to a qualified alumnus/a pursuing a joint degree at the Law School and the Harris School of Public Policy. Corps members and alumni will receive full consideration for all other need and merit based tuition assistance.
Application Fee Waiver
The Law School will waive the application fee for Teach for America members and alumni (who served within the past five years) applying as a 1L by our application deadline date. In order to receive your waiver, you must email admissions@law.uchicago.edu and request an application fee waiver code. You will use this code when you submit your application through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). Please do not pay the application fee. We are unable to issue refunds to individuals who pay the fee.
