Chicago working group to propose CPD use-of-force changes

After weeks of nationwide protests over police violence, Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced a new working group made up of community leaders, activists and cops to “to provide feedback, revisions and formal recommendations” about when and how Chicago police can use force.

The working group includes department critics, including University of Chicago professor Craig Futterman; several activists including Chicago Torture Justice Center’s Mark Clements, Ujimaa Medics' and Black Lives Matter’s Amika Tendaji, and Arewa Karen Winters from Justice for Families and the 411 Movement for Pierre Loury; and ACLU of Illinois staff attorney Rachel Murphy.
