DSVP Pro Bono League Info Session
The Domestic and Sexual Violence Project presents DSVP Pro Bono League Info Session with Melanie MacBride from Metropolitan Family Services
The DSVP Pro Bono League works in conjunction with Metropolitan Family Services/Legal Aid Society to represent survivors of domestic violence in Order of Protection hearings. Volunteers write pleadings and represent clients under the supervision of an attorney. You will earn pro bono hours, get great litigation experience, and help survivors of domestic violence gain access to the judicial system. Past participants will be sharing their experiences volunteering with the DSVP Pro Bono League at the info session.
Soul Food will be provided.
In order to represent clients as a DSVP volunteer, you must 1) complete a two-hour training session with Melanie MacBride from Metropolitan Family Services and 2) obtain a 711 license. You do not need your 711 to attend the training (we will go over more info about 711s at the training).
Please e-mail Taylor Grode at grode@uchicago.edu if you plan on attending the training session and/or if you have any other questions.
