Martha C. Nussbaum Student Roundtable: Professors Huq & Fairley - Law Firms and the Executive Orders
The President has issued a series of executive orders targeting law firms with ties to causes he opposes or individual lawyers he perceives as past or present threats. The orders direct federal government agencies to undertake several actions against the firms including revoking lawyers' security clearance, restricting access to federal buildings and cancelling government contracts held by the firms' clients. Some of these firms have fought back and have achieved preliminary rulings blocking the executive orders. Others have capitulated by negotiating agreements that require the firms to undertake legal work in support of causes the President endorses. Professors Huq and Fairley look forward to having a conversation about the legal questions and practical issues law firms face in deciding how to respond to this unprecedented present-day challenge.
Please RSVP as their is limited space available for this event. This will be in the Green Lounge Conference Room (located on the side of the cow, towards the Dean's Wing). Bombay Wraps will be available, including halal, gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options for registered participants.
