David H. Kaye

David H. Kaye is Regents' Professor Emeritus of Law and of Life Sciences at ASU and Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Penn State. He also has taught at Cornell, Duke, Virginia, and Yale law schools. He holds degrees in law (Yale), astronomy (Harvard), and physics (MIT). Before teaching full-time, Professor Kaye worked as a law clerk on the Ninth Circuit, as an Assistant U.S. Special Prosecutor, and in private practice.
Professor Kaye is an author of 13 books (including three evidence treatises), 17 book chapters, and over 180 articles and letters in journals of law, philosophy, psychology, medicine, genetics, and statistics. He has served on committees or advisory panels of the American Statistical Association, the National Academy of Sciences, the National Commission on Forensic Science, the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the U.S. Department of Justice. He is a recipient of the AALS’ Wigmore Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to the law of evidence and is best known for his work on scientific and statistical evidence.
In addition to pursuing these professional interests, Professor Kaye has taught Aikido and participated in first ascents of mountains in Alaska and China.
