Library Services for Alumni
Graduates of the University of Chicago Law School are encouraged to continue to use the D'Angelo Law Library, its services, facilities, and collections.
The D’Angelo reference librarians are happy to assist recent graduates with research, to help locate sources of legal information and to assist with complex legal research projects. For questions in disciplines outside of law, the D’Angelo reference librarians are able to make referrals to other librarian subject specialists at the University of Chicago Library. D’Angelo reference services are available in person at the reference desk or via telephone 773-702-9631, email or chat/instant message.
Attorneys are welcome to visit the D’Angelo Law Library and to consult print materials or use licensed databases that are available through the campus network, including LexisNexis Academic, HeinOnline, Bloomberg BNA, and CCH Intelliconnect. Due to contractual restrictions, the Library cannot arrange for alumni passwords for Lexis and Westlaw or provide off-campus access to licensed databases. University alumni do have off-campus access to academic journals and other materials in certain multidisciplinary databases using their CNet IDs. Additionally the D’Angelo Law Library’s web site includes tools that are available to researchers both on and off campus, including the online library catalog and legal research guides.
The libraries at the University of Chicago are open to all University alumni. Alumni may obtain a library card at the Identification and Privileges Office (IPO) at the Joseph Regenstein Library to visit any of the University of Chicago Library locations. There is no charge for alumni to use the campus libraries. Alumni wishing to borrow library books may arrange to do so for a small fee at the IPO.
