Information Technology

All law students must have a laptop on which to take their final exams. Many students choose to take notes on laptops as well.

Kiosk Computers

The Law School operates computer kiosks on the fourth, fifth, and sixth floors. The computers run Windows 10 Enterprise and have Microsoft Office, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and other specialized software. If you have questions, contact the Help Desk at 773-834-5300, or send an e-mail to helpdesk@law.uchicago.edu.

Printing

Students are able to print from their laptops or from the Law School Kiosk Computers. Instructions on how to print from your laptop can be found at the link under the Guides section.

Law School Credentials

Law Students will be given a CHICAGOLAW username and password. This username and password will be used to log into the Law School Kiosk Computers and to print to the Law School Student Printers from your laptop or the kiosk computers. If you have an issue with your CHICAGOLAW username or password, contact the Law School Help Desk at helpdesk@law.uchicago.edu.

Library Services

The D'Angelo Law Library subscribes to many databases and online resources that can be accessed through the D'Angelo Law Library website. The Library also posts old law school exams and model answers at https://www.lib.uchicago.edu/law/course/past-exams/.

Library Computers in the Reading Room

The Library provides computers in the Wilson Reading Room and kiosks on the fourth, fifth, and sixth floors. From these computers, you can print to the multi-function device located in the Reserve Room. For further information, see D'Angelo Law Library Computer Services.

Westlaw, LexisNexis, and Bloomberg

Students will receive their Westlaw, LexisNexis, and Bloomberg Law passwords during the orientation sessions led by the Law School Library. If you have further questions regarding your Westlaw, LexisNexis, or Bloomberg logins, contact the D'Angelo Law Library. For further information, Ask a Law Librarian.

Training

The D'Angelo Law School Library provides training on law-specific computer services, such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, and Bloomberg Law. The Library demonstrates useful law- and business-related Internet sites throughout the year. For further information, go to the D'Angelo Law Library site.

University of Chicago CNetID credentials

The University of Chicago provides each students with a CNetID and password that can be used to access many online resources like Campus Wifi, Canvas, MyUChicago, and many more. For more information or if you need to reset your password, go to https://cnet.uchicago.edu.  If you encounter problems online, you may go in person to the Identification and Privileges Office near the entrance to the Regenstein library, and they will create a new password. For security reasons, they absolutely cannot give out passwords over the phone or by e-mail. If your password is compromised, you may find your account frozen because of abuse by the unauthorized user.

IT Services provides all students with a wide range of computing resources at no charge, including e-mail, networking, interactive computing and Internet service.
