Brian Colbert, '94: "San Anselmo’s incumbents seeking re-election to the Town Council appeared headed for victory"

San Anselmo council incumbents, newcomer headed for apparent victory

San Anselmo’s incumbents seeking re-election to the Town Council — Kay Coleman and John Wright — appeared headed for victory Tuesday as did Brian Colbert, who serves on the town’s Economic Development Committee.

With about 27 percent of the vote counted, Colbert was the leading vote-getter with 25.8 percent of the vote. Coleman was in second place with 24 percent, and Wright in third place with 23.7 percent.

There are five candidates competing for three open seats in the race.

If the leads hold, Coleman, 76, a retired teacher and community resources director for San Anselmo, will be serving her third term on the council and Wright, 64, a retired lawyer for Wells Fargo and Co., will be serving his second.

For Colbert, 50, director of business development and patient experience at Savant Wellness, a San Francisco-based concierge medical practice, this will be his first elected office. Colbert, who is African-American, may also be a first for the San Anselmo Town Council.

“People have asked me that when I’ve been out canvassing,” Colbert said. “It might be the case, but I haven’t gone through the records.”

Colbert holds a law degree from University of Chicago Law School and worked for several years as a Wall Street corporate lawyer.
