UChicago Law JD Need-Based Fee Waiver Application
UChicago Law can grant a waiver of the JD application fee for applicants who demonstrate financial need. Need-based fee waiver applications are accepted beginning on September 1 when the application opens until March 1 each year.
If you received a fee waiver from LSAC, the UChicago Law JD application fee will be waived automatically when you submit your application through LSAC and you will not need to complete this separate fee waiver application.
For those prospective students applying for the JD Class of 2028, parental data is required in this application if you will be younger than 28 years old as of September 1, 2025.
This application is used to determine eligibility for a waiver of the UChicago Law JD application fee only; this fee waiver is not available for our LLM program. If you are admitted and wish to have financial need considered during the JD scholarship review process, a separate application will be required. You'll receive more information about that process after being admitted.
It can take up to a week for the Financial Aid Office to process your need-based fee waiver application. If eligible, we will email an application fee waiver code to the email address included in this application. You must use this code when you submit your application through LSAC. We will not be able to issue refunds to applicants who pay the fee prior to receiving a fee waiver code.
You can find more information about available UChicago Law JD application fee waivers on the Admissions website.
