UChicago Constitutional Law Conference 2025 Call for Papers

The Paper Submission Deadline is January 16, 2025. There is no charge for submissions.

The Constitutional Law Institute is soliciting submissions on all topics relating to constitutional rights for a day-long conference on Friday, May 16, 2025, organized by the University of Chicago Constitutional Law Institute and held at the University of Chicago Law School.

The conference will consider papers (at any stage of development) addressing any aspect of constitutional rights. If accepted, authors will have an opportunity to submit a revised draft prior to the conference for presentation and discussion. Accepted papers will be made available to all conference participants. There will be no publication requirement; the goal is the discussion and the sharing of ideas. Travel and accommodation expenses for those selected will be covered by the Constitutional Law Institute.

Our hope is that this event will mark the beginning of an annual conference, bringing together constitutional law scholars from across the country each spring. The conference will feature robust debates and discussions on various constitutional law topics from both established and emerging scholars. The overall theme of the conference will alternate between issues of individual rights (including equality rights) and issues of constitutional structure (such as the separation of powers and federalism). This first annual conference will focus on the theme of individual rights.

If you have questions about the submissions process, please contact Erika Siu (erikas@uchicago.edu).
