Karen Afshari returned to the Law School in 1999 as the Director of Administration and Budget after serving as the executive administrator for the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center, 1997–99, and as the administrator for the Program in Law and Economics, 1994–97. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Northwestern University.
