In honor of Veterans Day, Law School Veterans are hosting Judge Tharp for a lunch talk on his military experience and legal career. Judge Tharp is a Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1982 to 1987 and leaving with the rank of captain. He then attended law school at Northwestern University and spent time as an Assistant US Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois before joining the Chicago office of Mayer Brown and rising to partner and co-chair in their Securities Litigation and Enforcement Practice. Judge Tharp was with Mayer Brown until his elevation to the federal bench in 2012. He will speak on his experiences as a veteran, AUSA, being a partner in Big Law, and lessons from the bench, including recommendations for students interested in clerking.
