Justice Thomas R. Lee is an Associate Justice on the Utah Supreme Court. Justice Lee has a B.A. in Economics from Brigham Young University and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. After law school, Justice Lee clerked for Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson, III on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and Justice Clarence Thomas on the United States Supreme Court. Prior to being appointed to the bench, Justice Lee worked in private practice in Salt Lake City—where he argued numerous cases in federal courts and the United States Supreme Court—served as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and taught at BYU Law School. In addition to serving on the Utah Supreme Court, he is also on the Advisory Committee on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and teaches part-time at BYU Law School, Harvard Law School, and the University of Chicago Law School.
