On Tuesday, November 8, 2005, from 10:00 a.m. until noon, the University of Chicago Law School will host the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit for appellate hearings in our Courtroom. From time to time, the Court sits at locations around the country, often at law schools. It regards these sessions as an important part of legal education and conducts them primarily for the benefit of law students.

The Court has nationwide jurisdiction in a variety of subject matters, including patents, trademarks, international trade, government contacts, veterans' benefits, and certain administrative agency decisions. Appeals come from federal district courts, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Veterans Appeals, and certain administrative tribunals.

The following cases will be argued here: The Pillsbury Company v. United States (from the Court of International Trade), Golden Blount Inc. v. Robert H. Peterson Co. (from the Northern District of Texas - patent infringement), John B. Goodrich, d/b/a Checkerboad Cattle Co. v. United States (from the Court of Federal Claims - water rights), and Jackson v. Nicholson (from the Court of Veterans Claims).
