From declaring racial segregation and the prohibition of interracial marriage unconstitutional to ruling that people accused of a crime must be given a lawyer to holding school prayer unconstitutional, the Supreme Court under Chief Justice Earl Warren transformed American constitutional law. Drawing on their new book Democracy and Equality: The Enduring Constitutional Vision of the Warren Court, Professors Geof Stone and David Strauss will discuss the often harsh debate over the Warren Court's legacy and its approach to constitutional interpretation in a moderated conversation with Dean Tom Miles.
