2/9

Open to the public

The IJ Clinic on Entrepreneurship helps low-income entrepreneurs to set up stable organizations and relationships so that they can make an honest living and help grow the economy. But what happens when the legal landscape is shifting under their feet? IJ Clinic students will share their experiences advising businesses like a foreign language instruction company while the city interprets a new licensing scheme for children’s activity facilities; a toymaker while the federal government writes regulations for safety requirements; a background check provider while the state considers regulations for fingerprinting licenses; and an urban farm while the city decides how to implement a brand new zoning category that made farms permissible. The students will explain how they have used a combination of counseling, advocacy, negotiations, and creative contract drafting to make sure their clients are ready for anything!
