Paolo Carozza is the Director of the Notre Dame Law School’s program in international human rights law. His  expertise is in the areas of comparative law, human rights, and international law. Prof. Carozza was elected to the 7 member Inter-American Commission on Human Rights [IACHR] in 2006 and in March 2008, he was elected Chair of the commission.  The commission's decisions enjoy a great deal of credibility in Central and South American countries, where it has played an important role in opposing dictatorships and abusive regimes.
