Open to the public

The 2024 Business Law Review Symposium will address distinct aspects of law in relation to the role of corporations as political actors. Panelists will use historic and recent events to explore themes at the intersection of corporate governance, election law, and free speech. Corporations today are indubitably involved in U.S. politics from political spending to taking public stances on highly contentious issues. This symposium will question how corporations have ended up taking on roles in politics, whether that is good or bad, and what they can or should do in these roles. It will also discuss broader legal implications and consequences of corporations' involvement in the political landscape.
