Guest presenter Keren Zwick will discuss aspects of practice that involve writing in the voice of non-lawyers, such as affidavits and expert reports.  Ms. Zwick is the supervising staff attorney for the National Immigrant Justice Center's LGBT Immigrant Rights Initiative.  In that role she represents individuals in parts of the immigration process, from the administrative application process to the federal courts of appeals.  Another aspect of her work is focused on improving conditions for detained immigrants.  Ms. Zwick also teaches legal writing at Loyola Law School in Chicago.  After graduating from Columbia Law School, Ms. Zwick was a staff law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, where she worked on appeals involving issues such as employment discrimination, immigration, criminal law, and civil rights.  During law school Ms. Zwick served as the Executive Editor for Columbia's Journal of Transnational Law and participated in the Sexuality and Gender Law Clinic.  Ms. Zwick spent her summers working at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, Legal Aid Society's Appellate Division, and Allen & Overy LLP. She received her B.A. from the University of Chicago.
