Sam Hong is a technology and intellectual property transactions partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Sam’s practice focuses on technology and intellectual property-related transactions, including the drafting and negotiation of licensing and transfer agreements (patents, trademarks, software, other technology), certain commercial agreements (supply, procurement, software development), and outsourcing/service agreements. In addition, his practice includes counseling clients in various industries on the intellectual property and technology aspects of mergers and acquisitions, debt financing transactions, and other corporate transactions.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Sam worked as in-house counsel at the Seoul headquarters of Samsung Electronics, where he primarily counseled the business unit at the Semiconductor Division. Sam’s experience at Samsung includes drafting and negotiating a wide range of cross-border agreements related to the development, manufacture, purchase and sale of semiconductor devices and components
