Join a Close-Knit, Supportive Community

UChicago Law is a close-knit community in which students really get to know our faculty through direct interactions. Professors frequently host students in their homes, meet students for meals in Hyde Park, collaborate with students in small seminars and discussion groups, and co-author papers with students.

Chart Your Own Path

In the 1L year, students take foundational legal classes (e.g. property and torts, legal research and writing), as well as unique classes such as Elements of the Law, Transactional Lawyering, and multiple elective classes. As a 2L and 3L, students chart their own path through nearly 200 law classes. UChicago Law’s quarter system allows students the flexibility to take more classes in their intended legal practice areas and in legal fields that simply interest them.
